I leave in an hour or so on my first week-long trip to Fort McMurray. They are always a mix for me. On the one hand, I hate leaving my family. On the other, I get so much writing done! When I come back to my room at night there is no supper to make, no flash games (my netbook is horrible to try to play them on), no interruptions. Also, there's the long driving time, which is perfect for scribbling in a notebook. If I'm the one driving, I plot. My job isn't exactly an ideal fit for day job to writing, but it is damn close. It helps that I have understanding colleagues that don't mind when I sit out of conversation because I'm paying more attention to my pencil.
This is the first trip. We'll see what I can accomplish.
